Loyola University facilities used for Democratic organizing meeting aimed at unsuspecting Catholics: Industrial Areas Foundation and Call To Action representatives team up to focus on "short-term opportunities for action"9/12/2004 2:48:00 PM - CCICouched behind the usual rhetoric of "social justice" the notorious dissenter group the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) is partnering up with Call to Action and gearing up for the November elections. The two groups will once again be organizing volunteers for the Democratic Party under the banner of "IAF Young Adults Organizing Drive." CCI readers will not be surprised to hear that the 'get out the vote' efforts for this year's elections are being hosted by Loyola University on Tuesday September 28 (location TBD.) A recent email from IAF volunteer organizer Steve Smith noted that the purpose of the meeting, 5 weeks prior to federal elections, was to: "Network and share stories among young Catholics who are interested in and working for, justice, "Identify some common issues that young Catholics struggle with and short-term opportunities for action "Contribute Catholic voice to citywide IAF Young Adults organizing drive, which is bringing young people together from different race, class, and faith backgrounds to build an Agenda for Change "Learn more about the IAF Young Adults Organizing Drive and serve as an impetus for participants to host similar Community Meetings across the City" Smith goes on to note that the email was directed to "social workers, activists, program directors, young adult leaders in congregations, youth ministers, college students and faculty at Catholic institutions, etc." The email also gives special thanks to Mr. Smith's friends at none other than Call to Action, the dissenter group that favors ordination of women, abortion rights, gay rights, and has emerged as the leading voice of Unitarianism within the Catholic left. Why is this political organizing meeting being held at Loyola, and featuring support from dissenter groups from Call to Action? The better question may be, why not? In the past few years the Jesuit run University has repeatedly invited pro-abortion politicians and ant-Catholic activists to address the student body and faculty. CCI asks its members to be aware of overt efforts by Democratic Party operatives to use the Catholic churches to organize for pro-abortion and gay rights support Democratic candidates. These meetings will be sugar coated with "social justice" rhetoric, but the "action" part will entail door-to-door campaigning for political candidates.
