Thanksgiving after Communion

“Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling”

 (Zech 2:13).

A period of thanksgiving is in order after receiving communion. Inaestimabile Donum, §17 states: “The faithful are to be recommended not to omit to make a proper thanksgiving after Communion. They may do this during the celebration with a period of silence, with a hymn, psalm or other song of praise, or also after the celebration, if possible by staying behind to pray for a suitable time.”

You may have to resume your thanksgiving after the dismissal. This is the time to adore, offer thanks, and make your petitions. These are precious moments, open your soul to His transforming action; allow Him to take possession of you, to establish Himself in your soul so that He may live in you. “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20).
