Gehenna
There are certain individuals and religious groups such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Seventh-Day Adventists that deny the existence of Hell or Gehenna. Hell is the state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed, reserved for those who refuse by their own free choice to believe and be concerted from sin, even to the end of their lives (See Catechism of the Catholic Church §1033). On occasion, Jesus used the word “Gehenna” rather than the word “Hell,” when describing the final abode of the hardened sinner. Regardless, of how it is called, does exist and is a place of eternal damnation. © Evangelization Station, 2010 |
