Every Christian has the responsibility to live the Gospel message to love God and neighbor. Too often we turn a blind eye on the evils of today in the hope that these issues will not negatively and personally impact our lives. Yet, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, homosexuality, and other moral and social evils do affect each and every one of us, unfortunately, some more dramatically than others.

Each and every American has the opportunity to affect positive change in our government. It is imperative to the survival of our country that persons who will uphold Catholic moral principles be elected to office, both locally and nationally. We need men and women in office who will stand firm on the basics of our faith. 

You are in a position to positively influence your family and friends in order that they might exercise their responsibility not only to vote, but also to base their choices upon the Gospel message. It would be presumptuous of me to explain the Bible teachings on the sanctity of human life and other moral issues. Catholics, of all people, are certainly well versed on the Gospel message.

Many believe that they must refrain from speaking to their family and friends about political issues. I submit that a Catholic should recommend to them to vote one way or the other on a particular issue or for a specific individual based on Catholic moral principles. There is no law preventing you from recommending to someone how to vote and why they should voting for a specific issue or candidate.
