Imagine encountering a human being who had these dazzling, intangible qualities in their soul – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and generosity? But you are to be that soul. You are to be this dazzling attractive radiant being on earth.
Saint Irenaeus said, “The Glory of God is a human being radiantly alive – alive in the Spirit Who’s Name is Love. “Do you know that the Holy Spirit appeared five times on earth?
As a dove at Our Lords Baptism; as a cloud at the Transfiguration; as a breath when Our Lord says of the Apostles, breathing on them, “Receive The Holy Spirit. Who’s sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven; who’s sins you shall retain they are retained.
“And He appeared as wind and as fire at Pentecost. And every morning at Mass, He comes five times. In the Penitential Rite, it is He who enables me to know my sinfulness. It is He who makes my failures clear to me. It is He who inspires my sorrow. He comes in the reading of the Scriptures. It was He who composed the Scriptures and it is only He who will enable you and me to understand the deep, hidden meaning of the Scriptures.
He comes in the Epiclesis, when the priest put his hands over the Paten and the Chalice, and praise that the bread and wine may become the Body and Blood of Our Lord. He comes for the fourth time when we pray that we may be One Body, One Spirit in Christ. And He comes the fifth time in Holy Communion, because when Our Lord comes, the Father comes, and the Holy Spirit comes.
He comes to make you and me what God intended before the stars were ever created in the sky – another Christ, alive the 20th century. In the year of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Father asked us to be aware of Him, the Secret Guest of our soul. The great Belgian churchman, Cardinal Mercier, gave a secret of sanctity to his clergy.
He said, “If for five minutes every day you withdraw into the Sanctuary of your Baptized soul, where the Spirit of Love lives, if you talk to Him, and listen to Him there,” he said, “ I guarantee you will pass through this world with great peace and tranquility and arrive at the gates of Paradise full of merit.” G.K. Chesterton said that “Christianity has been found wanting, without having been tried. “So many of us are not aware of the gift of God to us – the gift of love Who is within us to bring us alive in a way that will give Glory to the Father.
