Birth Control Pills

Victor R. Claveau, MJ

It is incomprehensible to me that any woman knowing of the physical, mental, and, most importantly, the spiritual dangers of the use of birth control pills would consider, even for a moment, using them.

Every child is truly a gift from God. Mother Teresa said, “Saying there are too many children is like saying there are too many flowers”. Children bring such joy into the world. My heart breaks for the little ones who will never see God’s beautiful creations; these cherished souls who will never laugh, cry, or love. My only solace is that they are in heaven in the arms of our Blessed Mother and bathed in the love of Jesus.

At the same time, I am filled with a sense of outrage at the complacency that I believe permeates, not only our society, but it seems, the entire world. Americans, as well as other nationalities, have, for far too long, acted like the proverbial three monkeys, perhaps thinking or naively hoping that if we don’t recognize the enormity of the problem facing our nation and the world, it will simply evaporate.

The abortion industry is a multi-billion dollar per year industry, run by people blinded by the evil one. They must be won over to the cause of life or be defeated. The task before us may seem insurmountable, but through honest education every person can be, and must be, made to understand that the battle for the little ones can be won.

We must encourage our bishops and priests to act heroically to “preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching” (2 Tim. 4:2).  Tax exempt status be damned!

We must also pray fervently for the Holy Spirit to change the minds and hearts of those engaged in the slaughter of the innocents.

We must pray for ourselves too, that we will have the courage to speak out for life at every opportunity.

“America, it is said, is suffering from intolerance. It is not. It is suffering from tolerance of right and wrong, truth and error, virtue and evil, Christ and chaos. Our country is not nearly so much overrun with the bigoted as it is overrun with the broadminded… In the face of this broadmindedness, what the world needs is intolerance.”

—Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, A Plea for Intolerance, 1931.

The Jewish Talmud teaches that each life is precious, “To save one life is as if you have saved the world”. Our task is to save all the little ones. The mission is urgent. I beg you, for the love of God, please get involved!
