Rev. Robert Moore
‘fore all ages, bides The Word
‘til The Father’s Voice is heard
Now enfleshed – though not through seed,
nor any other human deed –
Comes The Word – Pure Gift of Love –
from The Father; from Above.
Bright, the heavens, dark the earth
‘til The Logos comes to birth.
Then pales the night, the demons cower:
(Dawn disturbs their starkest hour!)
“Hasten yonder, Welcome Him,”
Sing The Choirs of Seraphim.
“Rouse the sleeper! Sound the horn!
Straggler, come – your Christ is born!”
Mary’s Gift comes from Within –
Word-ful Prayer that knows not sin!
(Times to come will name her ‘blest’
For the babe upon her breast!)
Our prayer comes from hearts defiled –
How dare we approach her child?
Come, Dear Mother, give us part
Of That Word within your heart!
“Light from dark comes; Life from death –
Breathes he so, with tiny breath…
Sinners will be reconciled
In the passion of my child”
All Thanks. Dear Maid, for in your son
God and Man are come as One!
Fearful were we, now we’ve heard,
Keep us ere-living in The Word.
