St. Francis de Sales would often lead his young friends to the parish church and arrange them around the baptismal font where in their infancy they had been baptized. “See,” he would say, “this is the spot that should be dear to us than any other, dearer even than our birthplace; for there we were born in sin, but here we were made children of God.”
