Eucharist Proclaimed
When writing to the Church at Smyrna in the year 107 AD, St. Ignatius of Antioch warned them that they had heretics among their assembly and they would be known by their denial of the Eucharistic Presence of our Lord. “They have no regard for charity, none for the widow, none for the orphan, the oppressed, none for the hungry or thirsty. They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do no admit that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, the flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in his graciousness, raised from the dead.” © Evangelization Station, 2010 |
