Episcopal Ring
An Episcopal Ring is given to a bishop at his consecration as a mark of dignity and also as a seal and token of fidelity to the Church, which is the spouse of God. Bishops generally wear a ring with an amethyst, Cardinals with a sapphire, the Pope with a ruby; but this is a matter of custom rather than rule. © Evangelization Station, 2010 |
