It’s the quality that counts
William Shakespeare said, “Brevity is the soul of wit.” It is certainly true that the wisest and deepest thoughts have been expressed in few words. For instance, the Book of Genesis in the Bible tells the story of creation in 400 words. The Ten Commandments, found in the Book of Exodus–also in the Bible–contain only 297 words. The Declaration of Independence, which set forth the basic principles upon which America is founded, used but 1321 words. And Lincoln delivered his famous Gettysburg Address in 266 words. © Evangelization Station, 2010 |
